Colliers is proud to announce that longtime principal and senior broker at the Pittsburgh office, Ralph Egerman, was recently recognized with the James White Award for Excellence in Commercial Real Estate by the SIOR Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
This prestigious award was created in 2024 as a tribute to the legacy of Jim White, whom the organization referred to as “one of the most esteemed professionals and colleagues in Western Pennsylvania’s commercial real estate sector”. Each year, the James White Award will honor individuals within Southwestern PA’s CRE community that demonstrate dedication, integrity, and generosity.
Ralph Egerman was an inaugural recipient of the James White Award at the 71st Annual SIOR Industrialist Awards Dinner alongside Keefe Ellis (posthumous). Mr. Egerman was honored for his longstanding career in Pittsburgh’s commercial real estate industry, having begun as a rookie broker in 1981 with Cushman & Wakefield and later working with notable companies such as Alcoa, Giant Eagle, TechRX, NDC Health, and others. In the same year that he entered the CRE industry, Ralph also began to assemble his own investment portfolio, acquiring properties within the Strip District, East Liberty, Western Avenue, and the Centre/Baum corridor; his impressive list of tenants included Mallinckrodt, Giant Eagle, Respironics, and The City of Pittsburgh. Ralph Egerman’s expertise won him SIOR’s 2007 Most Creative Deal of the Year Award, as well as SIOR’s Land Sale of the Year in 2008.
As indicated by the award, Ralph’s lifelong devotion to the betterment of his city expanded beyond the boundaries of real estate; Mr. Egerman has served on ten different board of directors, including Parent and Child Guidance, Family Links (as Board Chair), PNC’s Financial Trust Board, and Upstream Pittsburgh. Other notable nonprofit involvements of Ralph’s include Animal Friends, the Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation, and Light of Life Rescue Mission, among many others. In addition to his many philanthropic contributions, Ralph has maintained a strong belief in paying it forward to professionals around him, providing mentorship to brokers throughout a majority of his career. Mr. Egerman’s willingness to openly share his knowledge has resulted in a deeply meaningful impact within Colliers’ Pittsburgh office, as well as the greater Pittsburgh market as a whole.
“On behalf of the Colliers Pittsburgh office, I would like to express how pleased we are to see Ralph get recognition for being the type of A+ person we get the pleasure of working with every day,” said Market Leader John Bilyak, “I’ve personally had the privilege of working with Ralph for close to 20 years and have seen first-hand the positive impact he has had on so many people, including myself.”
Alongside the SIOR Western Pennsylvania Chapter, Colliers is thrilled to honor Ralph Egerman’s professional and personal accomplishments throughout an illustrious career within the Pittsburgh region and beyond. Congratulations, Ralph!
