David Thor | Associate | Pittsburgh,  Volunteer Coordinator for the South Park Kids Triathlon.

Colliers International | Pittsburgh is proud to announce that David Thor, Associate, has just completed his third year as the Volunteer Coordinator for the South Park Kids Triathlon Series.  David Thor, pictured at far right in the first row, was joined by volunteers and naval service men and women for the event.

David orchestrates the efforts of approximately 200 volunteers required for the event annually, who were joined by Congressman Tim Murphy, and naval service men and women to volunteer for the event on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in South Park. Together with Race Director, Kristi Ferrero, David works year round to continually improve the annual event and spearhead fund raising activities.

The South Park Kids Triathlon Series is an annual mini triathlon where approximately 200 children, ages 7 – 12, compete by swimming, biking and running a challenging course in Pittsburgh’s South Park. The South Park Kids Triathlon complements a similar event held in North Park in the month of August, and collectively the two events raise around $75,000 annually for the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh. To date, the Kids Triathlon Series has raised close to $800,000, over 11 years, through the fund raising efforts of the children athletes and the continued generosity of its corporate sponsors. All funds raised directly benefit families in Western Pennsylvania.

“Several families each year are able to move into newly constructed or recently renovated homes that they could not otherwise afford, without  Habitat for Humanity arranging for low interest mortgages,”  said David Thor, Associate at Colliers International | Pittsburgh.   “The event emphasizes important virtues in the children; not only the value of outdoor physical activity and a healthy lifestyle but also the sense of community and the importance of giving to those in need. Health and Wellness always has been, and remains to be, a central theme in my life. As such, the Kids Triathlon series is a natural fit for me.”

Colliers International | Pittsburgh congratulates David Thor for his continued involvement in this special event and his dedication to helping children live healthier lifestyles in the Pittsburgh community.
