Colliers International | Pittsburgh joined the fight against breast cancer on Saturday, October 29^th  by participating in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a 5K non-competitive walk held in Pittsburgh’s North Shore.

2011 marks the second year that the American Cancer Society has hosted the event in Pittsburgh. In 1993, the first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was held in Boston; the organizers created the event to raise awareness and funds to win the fight against breast cancer.

Jessica Jarosz, Associate, led the Colliers International | Pittsburgh team in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.  As team leader, Jessica recruited team members to participate and make donations to help save lives from breast cancer.  “Here in the Pittsburgh market, the American Cancer Society, companies such as Colliers International | Pittsburgh, and thousands of cancer survivors and volunteers are thrilled to be holding our very first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event,” said Jessica.  “This will be a start to an annual event for Colliers International | Pittsburgh to raise money for cancer research.  It is extremely important that we continue to be involved in our community and support a laudable cause.  We are thrilled have been able to take part in this important event, and we are proud to announce that we have exceeded our team goal through our fundraising efforts.”

Jessica Jarosz set the Colliers International | Pittsburgh Strides team goal of raising $3,000 for this important event during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Colliers International | Pittsburgh exceeded that goal, raising close to $4,000 and recruited more than 25 participants for the event. Funds raised support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research, education, advocacy and patient service programs.
