Colliers International | Pittsburgh Employees Team Up to Make a Difference, Make History, and Make Strides
Colliers International | Pittsburgh joined the fight against breast cancer on Saturday, October 6 by supporting the 2012 American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a 5K non-competitive walk held on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. The Colliers International | Pittsburgh Strides Team was able to recruit participants and raise close to $1,000 in donations to help support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research, education, advocacy and patient service programs.
2012 marks the third year that the American Cancer Society has hosted the event in Pittsburgh. In 1993, the first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was held in Boston; the organizers created the event to raise awareness and funds to win the fight against breast cancer.
Gregg Broujos, Managing Director & Founding Principal at Colliers International | Pittsburgh, lead the Colliers International | Pittsburgh Strides team, and Jessica Jarosz, Associate at Colliers International | Pittsburgh recruited team members to participate in the event and make donations.
“Colliers International | Pittsburgh is proud to have participated in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk,” said Jessica Jarosz, Associate at Colliers International |Pittsburgh. “Over the past two years we have raised awareness and money to support this important cause and to help fight the disease. The walk in itself is very powerful, and by participating each year, we continue to unite as a company and a community. We were honored to be part of the event and thrilled to honor all of the cancer survivors.”
Since Making Strides began 20 years ago, breast cancer death rates have declined more than 32 percent according to the American Cancer Society. Funds raised through Strides support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research, education, advocacy and patient service programs. Since 1993, 8 million walkers have raised more than $460 million through the Making Strides event.
